About Us

See what the body project can do for you

Both Emily and Jennifer bring a wealth of knowledge to their body work.  Their combination of skills, experience, and philosophies of movement allow the Body Project to address a wide range of client needs and desires for their personal movement practice.

Jennifer Harmer

jenJennifer is a certified Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Yoga Instructor as well as a professional modern dancer with New York’s Misnomer Dance Theater. Her teaching practice is based on her longstanding experience as both a dancer and dance teacher, including work in Ballet, Modern, and Choreography, combined with training and teaching experience in a wide range of other body arts, including Chi Gung breathing techniques, anatomy and weight training, restorative bodywork, Thai Yoga, and Vipassana meditation. She graduated from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts Dance Conservatory, in 2001.

In addition to teaching community classes and private workshops in New York City, she has taught integrated movement classes throughout the United States and Europe, and spent a summer in the Artist-in-Residence program on Martha’s Vineyard, in addition to other honors. She has been most influenced by her years of study with the Master trainer, Joseph Zeisky, in the marital art Bagua, and by Master teacher Hilary Cartwright, formerly of the Royal Ballet, in her work with Gyrotonic and Yoga for Dancers.

Jennifer brings together her broad expertise in a range of movement practices to offer her clients a unique take on body work. She is committed to creating awareness of how the body operates three-dimensionally, so her clients can make practical use of their fitness at all times: while walking, biking, running, swimming, and working. She is interested in conveying the simplicity and the art of body mechanics.
